Für ihre hervorragenden Studienleistungen erhielt Claude Cournoyer-Cloutier, die derzeit als Postdoktorandin am Max-Planck-Institut für Astrophysik tätig ist, Ende November an der McMaster University in Hamilton, Kanada, die Goldmedaille des Generalgouverneurs.

The School of Frontier Science at Nanjing University has announced the appointment of Prof. Dr. Marat Gilfanov, Senior Scientist at the Max Planck Institute for Astrophysics (MPA), as a Distinguished Guest Professor. Currently, Gilfanov is working with the Nanjing scientists on a joint project studying intermediate mass black holes (IMBHs).

Ein Blick zurück nach vorn

2023 jährt sich die Gründung der Max-Planck-Gesellschaft zum 75. Mal. Am 26. Februar 1948 wurde in Göttingen das bewährte Konzept der Kaiser-Wilhelm-Gesellschaft als erfolgreiches Modell der außeruniversitären Forschungsförderung in die junge Bundesrepublik gerettet, aber auch zukunftsweisend verändert. Beides ist Grundlage der MPG in ihrer heutigen Form und ihres Erfolgs. Der Jahrestag wird als wichtigste Zäsur innerhalb der bis 1911 zurückreichenden Geschichte der MPG gefeiert und ist gleichzeitig Weichenstellung für die Zukunftsfähigkeit des Vereins, die immer wieder neu zu diskutieren ist.
