"Lunar and Other Meteorites as Key Geochemical Archives: Insights From Raman Spectroscopy and Comparative Analytical Methods"
This interdisciplinary seminar series explores how concepts and methodologies from geosciences, planetary sciences, and astrophysics can be integrated to advance our understanding of planets within our solar system and the wide variety of exoplanets beyond it.
This talk examines how Raman spectroscopy combined with high-resolution analytical techniques reveals new insights into the mineralogy of lunar, Martian, and other meteoritic materials, advancing spectroscopic tools for future planetary exploration. By correlating Raman data with quantitative microprobe measurements on the same microscopic areas, the study resolves mineral zoning, shock effects, phase transitions, and alteration processes. Comparisons with terrestrial analogues help refine spectroscopic interpretations and improve Raman reference databases. These integrated datasets advance the development of reliable spectroscopic tools for future planetary exploration.
