Paul Dirac, often referred to as the ‘theorists' theorist,’ was one of the founding figures of quantum mechanics and quantum field theory. In 1939, he introduced a new philosophical approach that placed mathematical beauty at the core of physics – a perspective that has had a profound influence on generations of theoretical physicists. In this lecture, Graham Farmelo will explore Dirac’s life and work, and the enduring impact of his ideas.
