3D View of 44Ti
Fig. 3 for the press release Radioactive elements in Cassiopeia A suggest a neutrino-driven explosion
Interactive 3D visualization of the spatial distribution of 44Ti ejected in the neutrino-driven supernova simulation of Fig 1. The model results should be compared to the interactive 3D distribution of observed iron in Cas A.
The orientation of the front view of the supernova model is chosen for optimal resemblance to Cas A. All iron and titanium ejecta are shown for the model, while iron can be detected in Cas A only in an outer, hot shell. The three major "clumps" of iron in Cas A correspond to the outer parts of the three most prominent "fingers" in the computed distribution.
