This review will summarize the latest results from multi-wavelengthstudies of gas and dust flows out of nearby and distantgalaxies. After a brief discussion of the basic physics and opentheoretical issues, I will present recent results on the origin ofwinds on sub-pc scales in nearby star-forming and activegalaxies. Next, I will describe multiphase galaxy-scale outflows indwarf galaxies and powerful quasars and their impact on the hostgalaxies. Finally, I will assess the latest observational evidence forgalactic winds reaching 100+ kpc scales out to the circumgalacticmedium.
