Dunkle Materie: Test eines umstrittenen Signals

Weltweit gibt es etwa 20 Experimente, die nach der rätselhaften Dunklen Materie suchen. Bisher konnte keines die Substanz nachweisen – bis auf eine Ausnahme: Das DAMA/LIBRA-Experiment behauptet seit 1998, ein Signal zu messen. Allerdings konnte bisher keine andere Forschungsgruppe dieses Ergebnis bestätigen. Mit COSINUS startet jetzt ein Experiment, das den vermeintlichen Dunkle-Materie-Nachweis nachprüfen will. In wenigen Jahren wissen wir hoffentlich, ob DAMA wirklich Dunkle Materie gemessen hat. Kumrie Shera und Dr. Martin Stahlberg vom Max-Planck-Institut für Physik erklären, wie das neue Experiment aufgebaut ist und wie es funktioniert. [more]
