The MIAPbP Workshop “Fill the Gap: Signatures of Electronic Excitations in Dark Matter and Neutrino Direct Detection Experiments” unites an international team of theorists and experimentalists to address two of the most enduring challenges in astroparticle physics: the nature of dark matter and the role of neutrinos beyond the Standard Model.
Focusing on electronic excitations in direct-detection platforms, the programme bridges perspectives from particle, atomic, and condensed-matter physics.
Key topics include:
- Comparing DM–electron and DM–nucleus channels and their sensitivities
- Neutrino signals (solar, supernova), including CEvNS as both signal and background
- Surveying materials, calibration, and readout strategies across disciplines
Following the MIAPbP tradition, the format offers extended stays for deep scientific interaction, with seminars, collaborative work, and informal discussion. Participation is limited to around 40 per week, with office space, housing assistance, and partial cost reimbursement (€80/day for external participants).
