International conference on the role of AGB stars in the cosmic matter cycle, focusing on 3D winds, dust formation, and the impact on stellar populations and galaxy evolution. Registration open until June 15, 2025.
The fifth edition of “Why Galaxies Care About AGB Stars” will take place on November 17–21, 2025 in Santiago, Chile. The meeting will bring together researchers on AGB stars, stellar populations, and galaxy evolution to assess the role of AGB stars in the Universe. Key topics include 3D stellar winds and mass loss, convection, nucleosynthesis, binarity, and circumstellar dust formation, as well as the consequences for unresolved stellar populations and galaxy evolution. The conference will feature results from high-angular-resolution imaging, spectroscopic studies, multi-wavelength observations, and advanced simulations, and will discuss prospects in the ELT era and beyond. Registration is open until June 15, 2025.
