Annual special edition of the LMU Astrophysics Colloquium addressing a longstanding cosmology problem in the Local Group.
Reports a resolution to the >40-year discrepancy between the Local Group mass lower limit inferred from the Milky Way–Andromeda dynamics (Kahn & Woltjer 1959) and the upper limit implied by the nearly unperturbed Hubble expansion in the surrounding region (Sandage 1986), followed by a question-and-answer session.
