This workshop and school, which will be held at ECT* in Trento, Italy, is the second formal meeting of the European Research Training Network (RTN) on The Physics of Type Ia Supernova Explosions. It will combine elements of a school, i.e. lectures on topics related to the aims of the RTN, with informal seminars and workshop talks, and coordination meetings. Moreover, there will be a "workshop within the workshop", from September 25 through 27, open to a broader attendance. In addition to the RTN scientists and others being at Trento for the full program, we imagine to bring in about 40 to 50 more people, and to broaden also the topics of the program to include, e.g., cosmological and particle physics aspects.
