Talk Title: Measuring Recent Star Formation Rates in Dwarf Galaxies with HST
Abstract: The HST allows very accurate stellar photometry in the upper parts of the CMDs of nearby galaxies. Comparing these observations with stellar evolution models, it is possible to derive spatially resolved star formation histories with a time resolution of roughly 25 Myr over a period of roughly 0.5 Gyr. These observations provide us with a tool to investigate the patterns of star formation in nearby galaxies, to measure the feedback of star formation on the ISM, and to help to calibrate the stellar evolution models.
