Talk Title: The ACS Virgo Cluster Survey: Globular Clusters and their Host Galaxies

Abstract: The ACS Virgo Cluster Survey is a 100-orbit HST program that will study the stellar populations and merger histories of the early-type galaxy population in the Virgo Cluster. We are using these high-resolution g' and z' images to determine surface brightness profiles and color gradients for one hundred elliptical and lenticular galaxies, as well as to measure sizes and metallicities for thousands of associated globular clusters. We are also using integrated spectroscopy of each of the program galaxies to derive dynamical masses and mean ages/metallicities. I will present early results and explore the relationship between systems of old star clusters and the stellar populations within their host galaxies.
