Piotr Popowski's Homepage
I am an astrophysicist. I got my Master degree in Physics from
Warsaw
University in 1993 and my Ph.D. in Astronomy from
The Ohio State
University in 1998. Currently I am a postdoctoral researcher at
Max-Planck-Institute for
Astrophysics in Garching, Germany. My research focuses on the
local distance scale of the Universe, microlensing, and Galactic
extinction. I am also very interested in statistical methods of data analysis.
You can see the list

Microlensing optical depth
toward the Galactic bulge
The new results from the paper submitted to ApJ are based on 7 years
of the MACHO Survey data collected between 1993 and 1999, and can be
viewed at astro-ph/0410319.
Map of Galactic extinction
The map is based on the MACHO Project photometric data in V and R
bands. The details are described in astro-ph/0303075.
Reddening and extinction values are given in this table. Note a separate group of
extinction estimates for the disk fields placed at the end.
