FINAL INFORMATION ---- FINAL INFORMATION ---- FINAL INFORMATION Program Information ***************************************** * SHORT GAMMA-RAY BURSTS: * * Observations and Physics * * Ringberg Castle, Tegernsee * * March 26-30, 2007 * ***************************************** Dear Colleagues, the final version of the WORKSHOP PROGRAM is available now on the conference webpage http://www.mpa-garching.mpg.de/~grb07. The accommodation lists for Ringberg Castle and Gaestehaus Leykauf in Kreuth can also be found on this webpage. Welcome reception on the evening of Sunday, March 25: ===================================================== For welcoming you on the Castle a light dinner (sandwiches and a keg of beer) will be served on the Castle on March 25. The check-in time is 4:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. (a few minutes later arrival is no problem). The participants staying in Gaestehaus Leykauf are also welcome for this event (taking place after 6 p.m.). Please arrange your transportation to the Castle by taxi on Sunday on your own. From Monday to Friday morning a shuttle bus will wait in front of Gaestehaus Leykauf at ***8:30 a.m.*** to take the participants from there to Ringberg Castle. Arrival and taxi: ================= Upon arrival, please take a taxi from Tegernsee train station to Ringberg Castle or Gaestehaus Leykauf in Kreuth. Taxis should be waiting at the station; if not, we recommend to call "Taxi Kaufmann" with the following number: 08022 5555. Weather: ======== Just in time for the beginning of spring, the mountains experience a late return of winter and are getting snowfall right now. It will probably warm up until next weekend again, but you should still expect winter conditions. All participants arriving by car should be prepared with winter equipment (at least winter tyres) on their cars. Talks and technical equipment: ============================== Information about the electronic and other equipment available on the castle can be found at http://www.schloss-ringberg.de/english/tagungsstaette.htm If your laptop needs special adapters for electric power or connection to the beamer, please bring those with you! Otherwise there should not be any problems of which I know. (Maybe you also inform yourself how to change the resolution on your laptop, I just had a very bad experience at a conference with that!) *** Please remember that the meeting has a mixed audience and quite a number of students. So please, spend a part of your time for a more general introduction of your subject and adjust the level and depth of your presentation to the audience. *** Please leave at least 5 minutes (or more in case of the longer talks) for discussion. *** We have planned two "No talk sessions" on Monday before dinner and on Tuesday before lunch. These are reserved for short 5-minutes statements in which the participants who do not give a presentation are asked to introduce themselves and their interests. Laptops are NOT allowed for that. If you want, you might bring one or two (at most!) overhead slides. Nearly all speakers sent us an abstract and the booklet is now in print. Have a good trip and looking forward to seeing you on the castle, H.-Thomas Janka (on behalf of the LOC) Conference website: http://www.mpa-garching.mpg.de/~grb07 (All circulars and conference information are available there.)
