Travel Information

Arrival by plane:

Munich International Airport (MUC) is located about 30 km north of Munich. From there you can get to the conference site located in the University building in Munich:

Arrival by train:

If you come to Munich by train you will arrive at the main railway station "Hauptbahnhof (Hbf)", right in the centre of Munich. From there you can take any S-Bahn to "Marienplatz" and change there to underground line no. 6 (direction "Garching-Hochbrück" or "Fröttmaning") or "U3" directed to "Olympiazentrum" and exit after two stops at station "Universität" (see also above under section "arrival by plane/public transportation").
Tickets can be purchased at kiosks, from bus and street car drivers or from big blue ticket vending machines marked with "MVV". A "single ticket" will cost you DM 4.00. Buying a strip-ticket (Streifenkarte) with 10 stripes (DM 17.50) would enable you to use the left-over stripes for further rides later. You need to cancel 2 stripes for this trip (instructions in English at the ticket machines).

Arrival by car:

If you travel by car and come from the north you should use the motorway Munich-Nürnberg (BAB 9) and drive until you reach the end of the motorway. Then turn to the right, direction "Olympiastadion and Autobahn Lindau-Garmisch". After approximately 500 meters you will come to a traffic light. Turn to the left into "LEOPOLDSTRASSE" and then drive straight ahead (approximately 2 km). After passing by the "Siegestor", which is centered in midth of the street, you can see the university buildings on both sides of the street. The conference building is located on the right side. Note: There is no parking lot reservation for conference participants. Parking space may be rare and rather expensive.
Needless to ask you to use a city map for more detailed travel information, also if you come from other directions. A city map of Munich can be found on the web pages of "Landeshauptstadt München".
